Can A Person With Eds Get A Tattoo

Can't yous? Can't you lot? Should yous? Shouldn't you? I haven't been able to observe much online about the do'south and don'ts of tattooing when you are affected by Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I plant many discussions about it though. I constitute a lot of EDSers chiming in when someone else asks 'I have EDS, should I get a tattoo?" Half of those who respond say yep go a tattoo and/or I have tattoos and I'chiliad fine. The other one-half say no don't do information technology and/or it is too risky or not worth the chance. I actually dear reading things like this. Medical stuff is nice, but, personal accounts of people who live the life I practise are better!

The yay-sayers share that they accept tattoos and it went alright. Some people say it took a little longer than it might for most people to heal. They likewise say that sometimes colors alloy and bleed a piffling more than they would like. Tattooed EDSers say its important to find a good, clean, reputable tattoo parlor and to maybe endeavour a smaller/simpler design for your get-go tattoo. I call back its always important to know your parlor and your artist and to be up front and open up with your artist. I read a lot of things that said to take good care of information technology in the healing process and go into it knowing that you might not get the crisp tattoo of your dreams and to be okay with any possible outcome.

The nay-sayers share that it'southward merely too risky. They say you have fragile skin and and then hundreds of needle pokes over and over can't be good. They say they worry that the prolonged healing EDSers experience lends itself far as well well to infection. They too worry almost tearing and scarring and all the things we worry about with our zebra peel. In all of my reading (I did a lot of reading!) I could not detect a single nay-sayer who had a tattoo. Their concerns are valid and were some of my fears too but I could non find an instance online where a tattoo went very incorrect for an EDSer.

Ask your doc. With all things that can business organisation your health you should consult with your doctor if you feel that you lot need to. Your doctor will likely advise you against it. Not considering it is definitely bad but because they don't know how it will impact each private and since you don't HAVE to take a tattoo (I disagree, I take to have tattoos!) they err on the side of caution and tell you lot not to go a tattoo. I asked a couple of my doctors. One apartment out said he didn't have a clue then he had no medical opinion. And one said a lot of the same things equally the nay-sayers but
had no practical testify to support it.

I know my trunk, my pare, my heal fourth dimension and my want to have a tattoo. I educated yourself almost this as I do everything else as a person with a life long chronic condition. I have to make the best decision for me and only I could decide if a tattoo is right for me.

Personally, I take skin involvement. And I have tattoos. My skin is smooth and velvety and stretchy only not super Guinness volume of world records stretchy. I cut easily and scab heartily and my scarring tends to be exaggerated and abnormal. My typical heal time is long and just about anything interrupts the healing process for me and starts information technology all over again it seems. I chose to become a tattoo. I chose the inside of my lower forearm for my outset tattoo. It'southward a bible poesy my dad wrote out and gave to me before he had heart surgery. The tattoo artist was able to tattoo information technology in black ink exactly as my dad wrote information technology. It came out cute! Clean and crisp. I kept it uncomplicated with just black ink. I used just pure kokosnoot oil on information technology every bit it healed. I kept information technology clean and dry and I did not ever scratch or rub it! It took my usual amount of heal time to heal and information technology really was a non upshot. I went into it knowing that it would be similar to a wound in a lot of ways. For me, information technology was well worth it.
